sounds like an interesting truck and a potential nightmare to prove to the authorites that it is a legal import.

Agreed...nothing sounds original prior to 87 on the truck, so how would they know if it's legal or not? Sounds best to do the resto in the states, after you've got it legally imported... GLWS nice truck

This truck has the original 1984 chassis (galvanized) with original chassis numbers on the V5. So, it should pass customs inspection.

$10k for shipping? Is that in a gold-plated shipping container?

actually zack its better to do restorations over there. its much cheaper. they will put a new frame under a defender with all new lines and stuff for about 2400 pounds. but just dont build a 97 on an 87 frame cause then none of the numbers will match up and you will have a hard time proving otherwise

for 65k people are better off going on ebay and finding a US defender. also if the engine came out of a 97 how does it have the original 84 chassis number on it?

I meant just for legal reasons, not monetary!
