My brake lights stay on whenever the car is on. They don't work when you hit the brakes. I found that fuse 5 is for the lights (don't know if thats the way it should be, don't have the fuse cover). I'm thinking it may be the switch. Any ideas?

Thanks,

It can only be the switch connected to the brake pedal, far as I can see.

Yup, thats what it was. I disconnected the switch and the lights went out. Any tips on how to get the thing out of there w/o destroying it?

I'm not used to seeing vehicles that require the car to be "on" for the brake lights to work. Usually, they are always hot...

I would hit it with some WD40 before any further assembly, see what happens.
I imagine the thing is not hot without the ignition in so that if there is a failure, it will not drain the battery? Your guess is as good as mine.
