Just joined the ranks of P38 owners

Bought a 1996 4.0 P30A on Saturday. It's got a couple of mods...

This is the beast itself. Any suggestions for names?

Aircraft grade stainless steel roof rack, custom built by our gracious hosts at Rovers North. Can hold quite a few jerry cans plus a second spare tyre:

It's got a little over 200k miles on it, but the price was right at $1000. The EAS was completely redone about 10 years ago. The only problems that really bother me are with the interior. There's some mildew damage and the headliner is sagging, plus the usual wear and tear on the trim.

Are you as excited as I am?

The headliner is a PITA to replace. The trim pieces on the pillar posts are very hard to pull off without breaking the little tabs that hold them on. Also, those trim pieces are covered in a felt flocking that does not like to be handled and are total dirt magnets. Keeping clean hands while working on the headliner is a must.

I was quoted $400 by a shop to do the whole thing.

I had to removed the headliner to replace the sun roof, anyway. So I took the foam core out by myself and took that to the shop and the price lowered to $180.

I am sure it can be done with a DIY kit at home a little cheaper.

As a new P38a owner - your next stop on the INTERWEB needs to be www.rangerovers.net and find the forum on that site. The Range Rover has so much electrickery in it and this site has a reference for almost every way-to-common repairs.

Thanks for the tips on the headliner, I'll admit that it's been something I've been worried about.

I went to rangerovers.net about the same time I heard about this new rover and started thinking about buying it.:thumb-up: I had heard about their (comparative) complexity and figured that I could use all the extra info I could get!
