I'm not sure about the Kodiak, but on my standard heater I replaced both heater cables with $9 universal lawnmower cables from the hardware store. First I cut to length the outer cover and inner wire, then covered the outer with heat shrink and filled the tube with moly grease, installed the cable wire and then bent the ends to suit. It came out better than factory, and with very little trouble.
What did you do for knobs?
I didn't need to have them as the cable hooked right into my control levers. But these cables do com with levers, if that helps. Or perhaps an old fashioned choke cable would be better, as there is a knob attached. I'm not familiar with how a Kodiak's set up.
