Default V8 temp gauge for 200tdi, accurate?

I have a question about the temperature gauge on a 110 that was previously V8, now 200tdi. It runs to the edge of red and stays, depending on speed sometimes the needle wanders into the red zone. Will a V8 gauge read accurately for a 200tdi?

    Thanks

First, a bit of electrical theory to clarify the functioning of automotive gauges.
A temperature sending unit sends a voltage range from 0-12 volts depending on the temperature. Each model measures a different range of temperature depending on the intended engines ideal operating Temperature . A temp gauge is simply a voltage meter that measures the voltage from 0-12 volts being output by the sending unit. Each model will be graduated differently according to the engine it is intended for. So basically, no the V8 gauge is probably not accurate when used with the 200tdi sending unit.
