    Default Ignition switch sticking

A quick question about the ignition switch in my 1981 109 V8 - today for some reason the ignition sticks in the starter motor position and doesn't spring back as it should.

Is there a fix for this or does this mean a new replacement? If a new one is required what is the part number? The parts catalogue lists551508, but I've also seen 579085 listed for the Series III.

    Thanks

    Default Ignition woes

    Hello there,

Part number 551508 is for non-steering lock petrol Series III's, 579085 is for the Series III with steering lock.
From the info given, it looks like your switch has reached it "sell-by" date and needs to be replaced.
