    Default Freeing up oil/sump pan

I am wanting to renew my gasket and have removed all the bolts but cannot free the pan from the engine block. I have tried to pry with a flat head and bang with a rubber hammer a bit. Any suggestions? The manual just says "remove it" Thanks !

Are you sure you have all the bolts out? Take a flashlight and carefully follow the perimeter of the oil pan, there are a couple between the back of the oil pan and the bellhousing that frequently get overlooked (don't ask how I know). If they're all out, the PO may have used a very strong sealant but I've never seen them stick so tight that a rap with a dead blow hammer won't loosen them.

yep all the bolts are out, I am just a little weary of using too much force and there is not a lot of swing room. I took a 2x4 and rested it on the oil plug housing and gave it a couple good wacks. The wood fractured where it met the housing. Just got love these things !

Maybe the last time the pan was off they used JB Weld to seal it up

Hope not, the "seal" leaks oil.
