Have you checked to ensure you have a good spark?

Initiallly yes, I had spark but i have not checked it again since the intermittant starting and not starting, everything seems to be pointing to a fuel system issue. My new engine scanner should be here today so I hope I can get the issue pin-pointed. Will get back and post results. Thanks

OK, the saga continues. Plugged-in my new scanner and only 1 code came up...P1509 which I believe is an ABS code? Still apparent no fuel, sprayed a quick shot of starting fluid to see if there was spark and much to my surprise the truck fired-up, this time w/ new symptoms...both the "mode" light and "sport" light are now flashing and truck is in "limp mode". Shut it down and would not start again. I ended up going to a more DII friendly forum and have narrowed down the issue to either a bad crank position sensor or possibly a bad gear position switch. Of course none of the local part stores had either on the shelf, should have the new crank position sensor today. Hopefully this does the trick. Will report back.

About ready to throw-in the towel...replaced crankshaft position sensor, no go. Turns over fine, has spark but apparent no fuel. "Mode" and "Sport" lights still flashing but no check engine light and no failure codes show up on the engine sysytem or transmission system. Any thoughts....anyone....

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that on my 3rd attempt to start the truck I managed to snap the key in the ignition...i love my rover, i love my rover, i love my rover...

Do you have a spare key?

If so, trying locking and unlocking the drivers door 4 times, that should reset the alarm

Thanks Les, I do have a spare, I'll give it a try after I get the other broken key extracted from the ignition and replace my battery.

Good news/Bad news...1st good news, got the broken key extracted from the ignition. 2nd good news, battery tested just over 12volts so I replaced it with a fresh battery, reset the ECU and the truck fired-up fine w/ no M&S lights flashing & no check engine light, purrs like a kitten. Bad news...when I step on the accellerator the rpms increase but will not return to idle even though the throttle body is in the idle position??? There are no codes so I'm not sure what it could be??? Maybe MAF?? Anyone??
