Thread: Making roof vents?

    Default Making roof vents?

I am restoring my 1966 IIa 109 and may finally be on the home stretch. I need to do something with the holes for roof vents in the safari top. I am too cheap to buy new roof vents and haven't been able to find any used ones. Has anyone tried reproducing them? If so, how did you go about it?

They appear to still be available new at ~$100/ea, p/n 333836. Making these yourself would be quite an undertaking!

Some owners have put similar vents in their doors, which you may be able to adapt to your roof. Try this door vents thread.

Although I do not have a tropical roof, I went an entirely different route...

    Looks awfully good.
How come you painted the windscreen frame body color? I coulda sent you a good 2A screen frame that only needs to be galvanized.
I dunno where Tom does his shopping but those roof vents are well over $200 each. RN prices them at about $290 per. Maybe he's looking at the BritPart Chinese knockoff version.
I got some from Ike, but they are not new, just way less rusty than mine were...
Also, the seals are NLA. I paid a guy $16 a piece for repro ones.
