    Default Multialarm problem

    On my FFR, I have a multialarm that is branded AIS. I cannot find this with Google. Is it possible it may exist with a different brand name? The device sounds when oil pressure is lost and water level is too low. There is also an option to test batteries, although that doesn't seem to be working.

    On the same note, for some weird reason the alarm keeps sounding unless I turn on the driving lights or headlight. This is since one wire (brown) came lose while I was doing some work. I reattached the wire and now the alarm keeps going.

    There are five wires on the multialarm device brown, green, black, white and red. Would I be right in assuming that:
    brown = alternator output
    green = water level sender
    black = 24V battery feed
    white = oil pressure sender
    red = ignition

    The alarm appears to be connected to the red ignition feed (through a thin red wire) and the brown wire (through a thin black wire). When I disconnect the brown wire, the alarm stops. When I reconnect it, the alarm starts but when I turn the lights on, it stops.

    The alarm only sounds when the ignition key is on. Previously, it used to only sound when the engine was not running or if either of the faults were in existence.

    Does someone have a wiring diagram for the multialarm?

    Alan,

    Maybe I missed something here, though I'll ask anyway.

    What year is the beastie? Any clue as to it's MOD application ?

    Thus far, I am baffled.

    Hi Les,

    As it turned out, the problem was with the alarm buzzer. The multi-alarm is working correctly and the warning lights illuminate when oil pressure and water levels are low, so I just removed the buzzer connection

    The multi-alarms are reasonably common in larger trucks and these were made locally. By a massive stroke of luck my local auto sparky not only knew these particular alarms but he also knew the guys who made them! These were made in Auckland not far from where I work. Also, he even had a copy of the original installation sheets and operating instructions.

    The problem with them is that they use some fairly sensitive electronics and it is easy for them to become faulty. I think these guys must have been devotees of Lord Lucas. That is what happened to mine.

    Anyway, in answer to your question, it is a 1985 Stage 1 and these things were fitted to all of those used in the military here plus the larger trucks too.

    Maybe. I am not sure. Certainly there were no responses to questions on other forums, so from that I might assume that others from around the world didn't know about them in Landies. Responses I did get were references to truck and marine management systems.
