    Default Oil filter

My 2.25l. Series II has the original canister oil filter but it came with an uninstalled screw-on conversion that I'd like to use. What is the required filter #? I don't see it on our host's site.

Wow that's a great list. I've been using the Napa Gold units.

Stick with the NAPA gold, or WIX 51515. Baldwin B2 is another good one.
Don't use Rover OEM, it's a bad design.

For the OP, make sure the one you have is a good one. Doug Richardson was making adapters in the 70's and someone took it upon themselves to produce a bunch of copies (I think it was of his) only screwed up and made them backwards so the oil flows the wrong direction.

The filters are quite common which makes it nice. You can get them on the shelf at any parts store. The practical benefits of performing an oil change are a big plus IMO also.

    Thank you Mark,
As much as I enjoy the hot oil running down my arm, I think I'll make the change.

A big competitor sells a spin on kit that I bought a long time ago for a series IIA. It turns out it fits on a 73 SIII NAS too. Pic below is the accompanying filter

I can tell you that with the factory spin-on filter on my 2.5 there's GREAT improvement: Hot oil only runs down your hands to your wrist, not your elbow.

The LR factory oil filer adapter (spin on type) for a 2.5 will fit onto a 2.25 and replace the canister type adapter. It is probably the best adapter you can put onto a 2.25 but it is expensive and hard to find.

I guess I'll need to go out to the garage and check, but I seem to recall one of the filter mounts to fit a Perkins 4.203 will fit the Rover 2.25.
