    Default Door Hinge Refurb

OK, so I have some basically new, old style, SIII/Defender door hinges that I'm wanting to disassemble and paint and install on my IIa.

    CAN they be taken apart?
    Pointers on pulling the pin?
    What pointers should I know?

A big frickin hammer and a darned good vise (and probably a few bent punches)! The holes are riveted after the pins are pressed in. I dont know where you would get new pins though. you would have to substitute something. Have fun and watch your thumbs!

Why refurb? The metal on the hinges is probably worn, new style Defender hinges are so much better and when all is is adjusted correctly, the doors close and hold like they should.

How hard is it to remove the old hinges to install the new ones ?
