Default 85 grey market fun machine

My 1985 grey market RR is currently laid up while I convert my 1991 RR to a Tomcat. The 85 was/is hand crank able, so I would like to make an off road (not street legal) fun car out of it. No electrics and no battery. In theory I could replace the distributor with a magneto. Is this possible, or am I dreaming?

If you can find a mag for a '64 to '70 Buick you'd be in business. Lots of high performance old Buick parts work on the older Rover engines.
