Unhappy removing transmission pan on 91 Classic

When removing the transmission pan from a 1991 RR Classic do you have to expand the frame and remove the cross-member? If so then I am screwed since I have welded a Tomcat frame outrigger that "hides" one of the bolts! Do I have to remove the exhaust system as an alternative. From my upside down view it does not look like the pan will remove without these types of modification - am I missing something?
