thumb-up FS: 1983 Land Rover Santana SIII 88" LHD 2.25L diesel

I regretfully must sell my 1983 Land Rover Santana Series III 88" Land Rover Santana 2.25 Litre diesel engine. Her name is "Lola", and she's a beauty!

    Location: Vancouver, B.C. Canada.

    Price: $13,000 CDN o.b.o.

    Current Specifications:
    • 2.25L diesel engine
    • 4 speed with syncromesh on all forward gears
    • Santana overdrive (essentially a 5th gear)
    • 4 New Michelin XZL tires with 90% tread ($$$... ask around, they are not cheap) 1 used XZL as a spare on the back
    • 5 extra wheels and tires (total of 10 tires and wheels all together!)
    • Roof is made of firberglass (another Santana difference)
    • 110V block heater for those cold cold mornings (installed new a year ago)
    • 7 seater, with full 3 point seat belt system for the driver and front passenger
    • Rear tire swing that carries the spare (extra room in the interior now)
    • 79,000 km with original interior and roll up windows
    • Paperwork up the wazoooooo! Previous owners, everything I have done, including the B.C. Provincial inspection.
    • Brand new Scepter Military NATO Diesel Gerry can (20 Litres/5 Gallons)
    • Product literature on the Santana's, User Manuals and Shop Manuals (all in Spanish)
    • 99% original and a "Box O' Goodies" (20 Gallons of Oil, new fuel filter, glow plugs, various knick knacks, screws, etc.)

    Recent Work:
    • Brand New fuel tank installed
    • New rear wheel brake cylinders
    • Fuel injectors reconditioned and replaced
    • Glow plugs replaced
All of this work has been done at a Land Rover authorized shop (Rovertech Automotive Ltd.) in the past couple of weeks. Previous work was done at Silk Cat Auto in North Vancouver where she got her B.C. provincial inspection papers from to make it insurable in the Province of B.C.

The transmission, overdrive, and the 4WD work beautifully! The vehicle has some rust around windshield which is a single pane, and has a three wiper system. Santana innovated the overdrive, and designed the initial parabolic leaf springs. From the information I have found the gear box is said to be stronger than most Series III as it is similar to a Defender 90 gearbox.

I would like to see this go to a good home, possibly a collector, as there are not many Land Rover Santanas in North America. She has been used as a daily driver and camping expedition vehicle. I can easily get her up to 90 km/h (over 55 Mph). I have been using BioDiesel b20-b50 blends as BioDiesel lubricates the engine, lowers emissions, and saves $$$. MPG is anywhere between 23 - 29 MPG, and the overdrive really comes in handy!

Thank you for taking the time to look If you have any questions, please contact me.

    Default 1979 Santana

I just bought a 1979 series 3 Santana, and just started some work on it.
