Default Reset "Service Engine" Light Defender 90

    Hi Guys,

I saw a post about resetting the "Service Engine" light for a 110.

Does anyone know the procedure for a D-90?

If it is the same as the 110, I don't know what the "Binnacle" is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

The binnacle is the intrument pod. You have to remove 4 screws, drop the face down and you will see the SRU (Service Reminder Unit) It is the same SRU as used in every Lucas injected Range Rover, 94-95 D90, NAS 110 and pre '96 Disco.
Peel the label back, insert a steel paperclip into the hole about 3.4", turn key on, then off, remove the paper clip and the light should be out. One of these days I'll get around to doing mine, on the 110, I've been staring at the light for about 15K.

    Thanks!

I was able to re-set it. What a pain to get around in there!

The alarm/buzzer was directly above the reset switch and the speedometer cable was so tight I had to disconnect it to get my hand in there.

Everything seems to be working though - so I will assume it is OK.

This may be a little late, and hopefully, you've solved the problem. A '97 D90 doesn't have the same SRU as the '95 & '94, and '93 NAS110 (these are the only other Defenders imported to the US) They all had Lucas injection, and wiring harnesses. The '97 D90 used a GEMS system and does not get rest in the 'mechanical, short out the swithc' manner. The service engine light is turned off by using your autologic or other diagnostic .scanner

I believe the resetting procedures are the same for the 110 and D-90.
