Default Setting timing on a 2.6 litre.

I am confused. Manuals call for 2 deg BTDC, I have been running on " past 6" on the crank marks. It idles best when the pointer sits between the "B" and "T" on the markings which are TD line, 2/6 BTCD. I suspect it is more than 6 degrees BTCD. I get the least amount of popping out of the exhaust and smoothest idle at this setting.Comments and thought please.sorry, I double posted...
