    Default Anyone have a trick for...

    getting the temp. sending unit off of the front of the engine without having to take off the water pump to get to it. Anyone done this before? Looks like a lengthy job to gain access to it and I have to do it on two 2.25 engines.

    Try a crow's foot or a deep socket with a slot cut in the side.

    What is a crows foot tool and what do you eactly mean by a slot cut in the side and why? Thank you for your help.

    crowsfoot = open-end wrench (stub) w/ square-hole for a ratchet/extension bar.

    I was able to install my capilary temp sensor (plus the adaptor) with the t-stat and water pump in situ. IIRC, it was possible using open-ended and adjustable wrenches. You only get a fraction of a turn before resetting the wrench, but this is after it was already finger tight. Final tightening was a wrench-on-a-wrench (if you know what I mean...).
