    Default Door seal lip

I'm in the homestretch rehabbing my old bulkhead, and trying to decide what to do with the rusted sections of the lip used to hold the door seals. I understand some folks use the Defender seals and trim the lip somehow to fit - does anybody have a good photo illustrating this? Here's what I'm working with:

I'm hoping I can just cut that whole rusted section out and weld in a some sheet metal bent to the rough profile. If I don't need the outer bend on the lips anyway, that simplifies it a lot, and I may as well take them all off before painting.

Here is my bulkhead with the Genuine Defender door seal. It just presses on - I'm not sure you would need to weld any new lip onto that area. I find these seals to be far better than the old style series seals - just my $0.02.
