Default S2A rear axle casing reinforcement - where procure the brace?

    Hello All

I am sure this one has been asked before, but I don't appear to have the right search terms.

1968 S2A rebuild in Monterey, CA. Working on the axles at the moment. The reinforcing brace/bracket welded to the underside of long bit of the rear axle is completely rotted away. Anyone know where to buy a replacement brace/bracket?

    Thanks,
    Jim

I used a section of rectangular steel tube to replace mine. If I recall correctly, it was 2” x 6” x 1/8” wall. Just cut off one edge to match the profile of the axel.

I traced a pattern with cardboard and cut it out of plate steel. Do like Richard's steel tube technique!
