Default Transfer Case Seal (Behind E brake)

So Im in the middle of doing this seal, and rebuilding the emergency brake. Is there supposed to be some sort of felt seal on the output shaft? The RN catalog shows this but mine is definetely missing. Also, what is the torque setting for the big nut? The green bible doesnt mention this. Mine was pretty loose.

    Default Felt seal

There should be a felt seal, its there to help ease the flow of 90 Wt. oil creeping down the splines of the output shaft.
The torque spec is 85 ft lbs.
    Hope this helps.

You can use the same felt seal for the hub/axle - plus this one is rubber backed!

Thanks for the info guys. That would explain why I saw more oil dripping from the nut itself....leaking past the splines. And I just happen to have a front axle felt washer in stock!
