Default 1999 disco II hood latch probelm, won't release

our 1999 discovery is having a hood latch problem. when pulling the lever inside the car it won't release the hood. i can not get into the engine compartment, is there another way to get the hood latch released? i have tried pushing down on hood while pulling on lever, and i have tried to use a vice grip on the cable to see if i can pull it more. nothing. is this a land rover service dept thing? anyone else with this issue?

    Default Hood release

Here is what is wrong with mine,

I look through the grill and I can see the cable is damaged. If someone pulls the cord while I look at the damaged section you willl see the cable cink. If I hold it straight when someone else pulls the release, the hood will pop.

    Hope that helps.

Mine seized up as well. Seems that it rusted due to both salt on the road in the winter and salt from the few times I drove my disco on the beach. The Techs had to replace the cable. The cable had stretched due to the many attempts to release the hood latch. The latch itself was fine the cable was another story.
