    leaking clutch hydraulic line pissing on the hot exhaust. though you'd likely have run out of pedal by now.

    maybe it *is* rotting broccoli.

    I did find grass wrapped around my clutch plate once. It was well dried though and not rotten at all.

    It's time to let us know what your suspicion is, because you haven't given us enough info to go on.

    It must be something stuck under the truck. Nothing I've ever smelled on any vehicle has smelled like that.

    Now a few more guesses:

    -You have been 4-wheelin in a landfill. (You should know better.)

    -You ran over a dirty diaper that got sucked under the fresh air intake for the heater.

    -Those weren't sticks that were floating in that little "creek" that you forded last week.
