2004 no doubt, and I'm not just saying that because my '04 is for sale in the classified section(hint ). 4.6 engine, latest style headlight assemblies, silky CDL lever.

    04's do look the best!
But whatever you do make sure the t-case has the CDL nipple if you are going to really use the rig and not just pick the kids up from soccer.
99's 00's and early 01's have the nipple and it is just a matter of figuring out how you want to hook it up.
    Home made linkage
    D1 shifter
    04 D2 shifter

I lave also heard some late 03's have the CDL nipple and some even the correct shifter but I have never seen one.

    Default 04

I just got one this weekend. 49k miles..interesting color of green. it sat on the lot so long that the battery is weak. I still have a 96 Disco I and love it. The 04 has tons more power and a lot of creature comforts that the Disco I doesnt have. Just hope it is as reliable as my 96.

What is a CDL nipple? I've read a couple threads which refer to it, but no explination.

    El hefe,

The 'cdl nipple' refers to the hex nut style stud on top of the transfer case that interfaces with the rest of the cdl linkage that ends up in the console at your Hi-Lo lever.

The first D2 transfer cases had the nipple (up until mid '01 build date) and the '04 D2 has the whole cdl ready to go and wheel.

    Hope this helps.
