Anyone have any good suggestions for a two piece seat for exactly this reason. I have tanks under both seats and would like a more comfortable seat than the military one currently in the truck.

Install the seats on a locking hinge of sorts. Luckily you've got a bulkhead (or bar behind you) and the seat belt in front of you so making sure the seat is 100% solid in a collision shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Of course there might be a seat option that works better than this idea...

Tracks I made for corbeaus. They remove in about 15 sec for access to the underseat compartments.

Thanks Ike, would I then need to take the whole seat out to fill gas? ....I don't get enough weird looks as it is, filling gas inside the car, without having both front seats sitting on the ground beside the pump!

You have to take the seat bottom out anyway . . . not much difference. If you didnt want weird looks, you shouldnt have bought some old crusty piece of foreign military surplus

There are two piece high back seats available. They're the same style as the SIII deluxe black vinyl seats. Not available from our hosts but other US suppliers carry them. I've got a set and like them a lot.
