Default 2001 discovery engine replacement question

Guys, I am new to the forum, Have owned many rovers, however, I need some advice on replacing my 2001 discovery without secondary air injection engine. I ran it 175,000 miles with one headgasket replacement and finally it is billowing white smoke out the tail pipe. I am not buying a new engine, however, I am looking at buying a used engine with about 50,000 miles. I have priced these out and it looks like it will cost me 1700-2500 dollars for the engine. I have heared some ok things about car cannibal. Do you guys have any other used rover parts places which are good? Also, I am having a mechanic friend of mine put it in. Suggestions and help would be great. Thanks, Mike
