Thumbs down Death of a rover?

Has anyone heard of a disco 1 spontaneously catching on fire?

Got a call this morning that apparently mine did. Had it sitting at my father's waiing for me to finish some maintenance tomorrow hadn't moved in a week. Apparently, the passenger side dash now has a foot to foot and a half hole down through it with some burning on the engine compartment side of the firewall; put out by the fire dept who broke out the driver window and hosed it down. Going to look at it tomorrow but what in the heck, never known a car to catch on fire just sitting in the drive. Hopefully she's salvageable.

Any oily rags left in it? Oil soaked rags can self combust.

went and looked at it today, will post pics tomorrow. It appears the fire started in the harness below the blower, or the relays behind the glove box, there is a pile of plastic goo in the pass floorboard and a basketball size hole upwards from there to the fresh air intake outside under the w/s; looks like it burned through the harness entirely then burned out the entire blower housing all the way up to the defrost vent and intake. not pretty, and I'm not sure if she's gonna be salvageable yet.

anyone know if the dash wiring harness interchanges between 95 and 97 discovery? 3.9 vs 4.0 but does that change anything across the lower passenger dash harness???
