Default salsbury vs, rover axle width??

i got some 16 wheels for free , but there from a 1971 x military 88, with the sals axles. (they had them huge lug nuts) now, they are about one inch set in compared to the ones on my 109 (1961) now when i mount the new 16' , they set in the fender more than my other set. are these wheels i got used for the sals axles, and the other wheels for the rover type axle?? thanks, nathan

The Salisbury axle and the rover axle are the same width. The larger lug nuts were standard on the S3's I believe, 1 1/16 as compared to the 15/16 on the earlier trucks. I think there is a difference in offsets between the 88 and 109 16 inch rims. Most likely your new rims have a smaller offset, aka they are SWB rims.

Axle widths on series rover axles and series salisbury axles are the same. The back spacking of the wheels are probably different. Just put your old wheels on and go.
