Hmm,
Is there any data to back that? I'd be interested to see some testimonials.

Is the Lt77 the transmission I have in my 72 NAS series III 88? Its a four speed, should i be putting ATF in there vs. 90wt?Originally Posted by Terrys
An LT77 is a 5 speed with internal oil pump, hence the original directive for ATF.Originally Posted by rwollschlager
You want a suitable gear oil with a viscosity in the 85 or up range, but deffinately not ATF. (Use 85W-130 for the winter)
thanks, im going to be changing all the fluids one of these weekends just makin sure im using the right stuff
LT77 is a 5 speed tranny, if it is the later LT77S, with synchro 5th gear, I would use the MTF.
LT76 is the Series 4 Speed transmission.
LT = Leyland Transmissions
76,77,85,95 is the diameter of the mainshaft in millimeters.

Really? I thought it was the dimension between the centerline of the mainshaft and layshaft......Originally Posted by Les Parker
Don't worry, you're biodegradable.
can't speak to the Amsoil product but I use Redline MTL in 95's, 77's and 380's.
In my personal truck (lt77s) I noticed a pronounced difference when
I put the Redline in. I have been buying it from some fellow on ebay in Pa for a bit over $8 a qt.

I just ordered a gallon of Redline MTF in hopes of eliminating the dreaded 2nd-gear grind. I have tried 80W-90 and then ATF. Both with the same result. I'll try to follow up with the results.
When I took delivery of my D-90 the gearbox was empty.
Les thanks for that info about the tranny classifications, learn something new everyday.
