    I just ordered a gallon of Redline MTF in hopes of eliminating the dreaded 2nd-gear grind. I have tried 80W-90 and then ATF. Both with the same result. I'll try to follow up with the results.

    When I took delivery of my D-90 the gearbox was empty.
    As I said, above, that was before I acquired the truck. In any case the 110 has a high capacity transmission oil cooler, which the 90 does not have. That, alone takes an additional 2.5 quarts.
    I'm not surprised you have difficulty using 90 weight, since the internal oil pump in an R-380 can't even pump it.
