I'd look at the Vintage SAAB owner's site listed above.

As for kewl retro rallye cars, [I've got a soft spot for Audi ur-quattro's having owned two] this video of an Audi sport quattro S1 is nice.

Paddy Hopkirk's Cooper S lead me to buy an 06 (in Red/white roof/white bonnet stripes naturally) I even named the car "Hopkirk"

Oddly, I also owned an R5 (called "Le Car" here for some stupid reason- and yes I can hear you laughing). It was my first car, all of $800 for that one. I'd love to drive an R5 turbo one day to see how it could be with power. The best part of the car-other than being unique was that you could corner it on it's door hadles and not loose it. The new MINI Cooper S shared that trait but it was about 1 million times better. The only other good trait was that the muffler was pretty shot so it at least had a snarl when you downshifted it.

    Thompson,

I'm surprised you didn't try to make room for this one in your garage.

Yes, I noticed that one the other day, cross-posted to the early911Sregistry. A very fitting tribute to the uber-rare 953, well done and would be hoot to drive up here in Vermont.

Back in 1991, when I owned my '72 911RS replica, I occasionally hung out at Morspeed in Campbell, CA. Dave Morse restores loads of rare obscure ex-factory Porsche's and owns the 4th 936. This is basically the prototype for the 959, just funny how Porsche goes about testing. "Let's enter the Paris-Dakar rallye and test it out". They won.

Morspeed was restoring the real deal 1984 Paris-Dakar winning ex-Ickx Rothman's 953. It had gone south to Mexico, was recovered and in the process of being restored when I stopped by one day, just painted, ready for the decals/stickers.

Dave's son fired it up and I remember he was driving it around the parking lot hopping the concrete parking things like little pebbles!! The sound it made OMG . 3.0 liter straight pipes with mechanical injection, silly goose bumps.

Anywho, here are photos of the two...

Loads of Range Rover's competing in the 1984 Paris-Dakar rallye!

There are a few shots of the AWD Porsche 953 in action.

Technically, this fits the two descriptors: "Rally" and "Retro", but I don't know if it is what you had in mind.

    I love this car.
