Default Series guy asks quick favor of Defender guy

Gents: I'm installing Defender door seals onto my 109. I have the seals here. Half way down the jambs there is a (~6") foam rubber "rod" inside the bulb of the seal. Is that rod supposed to land at the joint of the roof and the body or is it supposed to land where the body line swells out halfway down (the "hip")? I ask because it's at different spots on different seals for me.

If one of you Defender owners were able to feel along your door seals, hinge side and latch side, and tell me where you feel that stiffer section located... Thank you very much!

    Kind regards, Josh

I have checked my 90 door seals (both left and right) and neither have any "stiffer" part on them.
Please attach a pic. of the point of your concern.
