    Default 1953 Series 1 80"

    1953 Land-Rover
    80” wheelbase
Red with red seats and tan canvas top
Originally built as a fire tender
Delivered new to the Ministry of Works in London, England
Have British Motor Heritage Certificate documenting build date and picture of truck as-delivered

    Nice overall condition.
    Runs, drives and stops well.
Recent maintenance on brakes, swivels and steering.
Recent rollbar added for safe(r) mild off-roading (club trials).
Original engine, gearbox, transfer case, axles, gauges, switches, lights, wheels, jack, starting handle, etc.
No rust in chassis or bulkhead (original factory galvanized bulkhead).
Fuel pump replaced with solid state unit to stand up to ethanol in fuel.
Firestone 215/85-16 MT tires (with around 500 miles) and new battery.
Includes, but not installed, reproduction Clayton heater, original trafficators and fuel pump.
Prior owner paid $13k for this truck in 2001 and provided receipts for more than $10k of work including new wiring harness, repaired fuel tank, replaced generator, etc., etc.
Paint has a few nicks and scratches, and top is pretty worn out.
Used for local Land Rover club trials events a few times.
Generates a lot of interest at British car shows.
52 bhp. Slow with vague steering so unable to compete with modern traffic. Think of it as being half way between a later Series Land-Rover and a tractor.
Deserves a quiet life of puttering around a neighborhood or a farm.
In the right setting, partly because of the color, this is a very cool vehicle.

Default Updated pictures and lower price - $7,500

OK, I'm serious about selling this Land Rover. Before I resort to eBay, I'll give it another try.

    Price now lowered to $7,500.

Includes new Exmoor 3-seater canvas 'tilt' (truck cab). Cost $500. (see updated picture gallery)

The prior owner paid $13,000 for this truck in 2001, and it came to me with receipts for over $10,000 in parts and labor. I've owned it since January 2008 and have replaced the tires, battery, rebuilt the brakes, etc.

I drove it around today, probably about 10 miles. Drove my daughter to work. It's slow, but it gets around. I'm ready for something different.
