No I haven't bought a Disco. I'm asking for a friend. Does anyone know if a 96 manual transmission transfer case can be installed in a 94 Disco with an automatic transmission?
Thanks in advance,
Jim

I don't see why not. This was an option from the factory.
Ensure that all interior parts and external linkage, mounts... from the donor vehicle are transfered.

Sure. There may be a slight difference in ratios. One was 1.2:1, one was 1.22:1. Other than that, an LT230 is an LT230, at least back in the CDL years.
I think the auto has a neutral safety switch whereas the manual does not.
Physically they will work but the NLO switch may be a problem.

How about the other way round? I own a 95 Discovery with manual, and that WHINE at speed is really annoying. I'm told that it is characteristic of this year and the previous one but was resolved next vehicle year. Would that be true?
If so, can I mount an auto TC onto the back of MY transmission with no problems?
