Awesome pictures, Nels! I'm sorry I wasn't able to attend. Saturday must have been picture-perfect because it was pretty damn hot at Rentschler Field on Saturday for UConn game.

    Two questions:

    a) To whomever owns the '88 with all the stickers (Mass. plate 1234KK): Is that a electric Belleview winch on the front? Looks exactly like the one I had.

    b) To whomever owns the '88 (Conn. plate 1955LR): What brand of spotlight is that on your bulkhead? I haven't seen that before but it looks sharp there.

      Awesome weekend.
Thanks to all who made the trip.
I do not have the pix downloaded yet, I'll get that done tonite.
I have the gift certs. for the trial competitors and will mail them out in the next couple of days.
Many thanks to Don, Judy and Mike for the hospitality and generousity to all who attended.
Thanks to Tom Bache for sharing his rare fine of a 3 point hitch for a Series 109", it will be very interesting to see the installed equipment.
Fergie is still recovering, he had a very quiet, uneventful trip back to South Burlington, a steady 4 hour drive.

Anyone any thoughts for next year?
      Trailer reversing, green laning? Etc?

You will be hard pressed to improve on this year's event. I really think that folks comes to see old friends and to see what changes happened over the past year. I wouldn't change a thing. Again thanks to you all for all that you did.

It is not an acurate millitary insignia. That is Jac04's beautifully restored Lightweight. He has a thread here on the forum with the whole rebuild. He added the insignia near the end of the rebuild thread, and you can read about it if you like.

I believe there was a heated discussion as to weather he should use the insignia or not, as it was not original to the vehicle. Regardless, I like it, and it looks better than a bare door!

I only decided to add the insignia after doing some research. Lightweights were used in the Gulf, and the Desert Rats (7th Armoured Brigade, not Division) were there. The insignia itself is as accurate as possible based on real insignia (except it is a decal instead of painted). The placement is accurate, although it is my understanding that when the vehicles were prepped for the Gulf, they received the inverted V but were not supposed to display insignia. According to some members of the EMLRA, some vehicles still displayed insignia as well. So, that's the route I chose.

Here are a few examples of real 7th Armoured Brigade insignia:
Memorial at Mundford, in Thetford Forest, Norfolk England:

This next one is as real as it gets. This Desert Rat was painted on another LHD SIII Lightweight after it was prepped for the desert by being painted flat tan. Right before deployment, forces were notified of the required inverted V marking, and the inverted V was then painted over the Desert Rat. My insignia was made as a copy of this:

                          OK. No argument from me

Just surprised to see it, that's all.

By the way, have you tried to do any research into your actual vehicle? It's deployments, etc.?

Does look very smart from here.

I like the rat painted on the outside, instead of the mice on the inside of my Rover...
