The whole "vin-swapping" and importing "parts"(vehicles broken to body/chassis) definitely happens.

You wouldn't get away with that in this country. But, for now, you can import them. However that will not be for long because of their emissions ratings. For that reason, you can't import old models. Funny how things vary.
That is cool, I am very jealous. By the way, your signature says 2005 Disco 2 HSE, how is that possible?
Oh and the 10mpg isn't much of a help either...
I will have you know Zack the wife's 04 Disco gets a whole 15mpg! It only gets 10 when it's towing a Defender or the 101
On the open road, with no trailer, I get 12l/100km, or around 23mpg in the Disco. Should be 11l/100km but it is chipped.
The Stage 1 is not so economical.
