    Series IIA 88" Mudflap Installation

I want to install a pair of Land Rover mudflaps on the rear crossmember of my 88" station wagon. Does one drill the holes at the leading edge of the crossmember (i.e., toward front of vehicle), or should they be placed as far back as possible?
Concerned about any contact that might occur with tires.

I have a rear step on driver side, so mudflap can't be all the way rearward. Plus, the crossmember is a box and seems I cant use nut & bolt fastening unless at front edge.
    Thanks,
    Dennis

They attach to the front edge. The screws for the attachment angles go through that small (5/8"?) lip on the front lower corner of the crossmember.

Thanks much. I thought that was the case. They mounted easily and look great.
