Does anyone know what the red and black "jacks" in the top left of the panel are for?

They are officially "test plugs" wired directly to the battery. You can find, however, utility lights that are made to plug into them, sold I think by Craddock now and again.

Last time this was asked I believe Ike said it was for your Ipod. :p I think it was decided it is for the work light that originally came in the tool roll?
EDIT: D'oh! Beat me to it!

Electrics if you are lucky and the rover is behaving itself. But no electronics hidden in that dash. Just smoke.

I've often wondered if you can find those small fans - such as the ones on your school bus when you were a kid - to hook up to those plugs. I think I've seen them on people's Rovers but think they were hotwired behind the dash.

In my rover, the PO took out the plugs and installed a cigarette lighter.

That helps. So then, aside from the work light, what other accessories were available?

The Series two-pole dash plug came from RN I think, and the wires were attached to a cheapo 12v lighter socket I got a NAPA. The cheapo socket was subsequently hard-wired in and has been worked well for many years.

So did you buy the two-pole plug and rig the wires to it yourself?

Yes, the plug comes without any wires; I just attached the wires that came attached to the 12v socket :thumb-up:
