Give Ike a call at Pangolin. He's particularly fanatical about SI's.

Thanks, I did not realize there are such great interest and support in all Land Rovers.

I would have thought you would want to contact the Heritage Centre at Gaydon, Solihull, or Dunsfold. Dunsfold has the most complete collection and the Heritage center has the records and history of virtually everything from the begining through the early 80s.

I am researching to see how many Willy's chassis parts were used on the pre-production Series 1.

Have read that Rover employees purchased several surplus Willy's jeeps during the development of the Land Rover. Rover also did not have time or money to tool up for production, they used what they had for pre-production.

Question; how many pre-production Land Rovers actually used the Willy's chassis and running gear?

only the center steer used willys stuff (the single prototype) The pre production vehicles (48 of them) have no willys parts. Happy to send you pictures of the pre-production trucks if youd like.

Yes, I would like to have pictures of the pre-production. How would you like to send, email?
