My LR is a 1972 III, running OK, and just installed overdrive. What is the current consensus on installing a Weber Carb to gain a little more performance when overdrive is engaged? Is the 34 ICH the best Weber to use? Many thanks.

FWIW my 34ich has been trouble free for years. No problemos.
There seem to be different preferences on this board for different carbs, depending on what you want them to do. For instance, since you mention the OD I might assume that you are looking for something that works well at speed and on hills. For that, the Weber has served me relatively well, although those with experience with both the Weber and the Rochester might be able to give you the pros and cons of both.
On the other hand, you might also be looking for a carb that works well on the trail. lots of opinions here on that, too.Comment

variety of Carbs
I have a IIa with the 2 barrel weber, and it works OK, but it is finicky to deal with. I also have another Rover down in Peru with the Rochester. I have like this carburetor a lot since it is very easy to rejet, and just flat out simple to work on. If I have to buy another one, that is what I will get.Dirk

A thread with more carb info then you probably ever wanted
I've changed from the Zenith to the Weber 34 ICH because I haven't got around to rebuilding the Zenith. The Zenith is suppose to have more umph then the Weber, but the Weber is suppose to have better MPG. I have a Fairey overdrive and the Weber does fine moving the Landy along (relatively speaking of course still have to downshift for hills).Walker
