OK so I have a Solex on my SERII, It's in bad shape, so I was thinking of replacing it with an old Zenith that I have laying around. It is a 36 IVE, the solenoid is gone. So is there any problem using this on my serII?
Is there any other difference in this carb
can i just plug the hole where the solenoid was.
Thanks.

I plugged the solenoid hole on a 361v and all was fine.

I think the Solex carb pushes up on the linkage to open the throttle, and the Zenith pulls down. You might have to find the later linkage, or have a really fun and different way to drive the truck....:)
IIRC, the Solex and most Rochester carbs push up, the Zenith and Webers pull down, and I had Holley carbs that went both ways.

The Zenith, Rochester, Webber and Carter, all mount at right angles from the Solex. You'll need to get an adapter plate.
If the Zenith has been laying around a long time, take the cover off and check the body for warpage. Very common. Joint between cover and body won't seal on the gasket. Easy enough to fix. Get a sheet of 400 wet/dry paper, and when your wife goes to the store, put it on the granite counter top and rub the body joint till you have 100% bright surface.

Float glass does the same thing as granite for lapping faces.
