Hello all,

I recently bought a 71 Series 2A, I have only driven the truck about two miles in the last month. The first mile I blew a rear axel shaft. After fixing that I blew the clutch master cylinder which I plan on fixing this weekend, along with a tune up.

My question is when I go to start the truck it cranks very slowly. I have to try about 3 times until it finally cranks over and then I have to sit there and keep the revs up a little or else it stalls. Is this an ignition timing fault? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check the connections to the battery, starter- the engine ground etc. If they look like they haven't been cleaned in a while then do so.

yeh connections are key
even in between the starter and the bell housing.
i was having similar trouble
i actually ran a seperate ground lead from the battery to the starter bolt and it made all the difference in the world. i did eventually got a gear reduction starter and ive never had a problem with it. knock knock knock on wood.
as far as axel shafts and clutch. hmmm
is anything in the drive train binding?
brakes are free?
gotta think about this.
