I just rebuilt my Rochester Carb. anyone know what initial setting I should use for the idle mixture screw?

also, the few Rochester setups I've seen did not use the base adapter and were rotated 90 degrees clockwise (when looking from above) from mine. any advantage to this setup? seems like I have a home-made throttle linkage with this setup.

Rochesters are usually mounted in the same orientation as the Solex without the adapter. My advice is that orientation does not matter so much as what makes the easiest connection to your existing linkage. It looks like you have a linkage connection that works so stay with it. What's more important is that you do not block the hole at the base of the carb.

The carb should fire up 1-1/2 turns from closed & you can adjust from there.

since you already have a carb & have it fitted, there may not be anything of interest, but I do have a Rochester FAQ page in my LR web site:

TeriAnn, I just checked out the site - it's has a lot of great info! thanks!

I see you recommend reusing the old spring for the pressure valve - I used the new one. should I go back and put the old spring back in?
