My Series IIA choke cable is missing the business end (i.e., the handle used to pull it out). I can't seem to find a replacement for either the handle or the entire cable from any of the part houses. Anyone have any ideas? Can I use a newer cable / switch assembly?

Thanks!!!

I believe you can buy the series III choke cable, and it will fit the IIA. I just bought a universal one from the local parts store, and it works fine. It doesn't hook up to the cold start light though, so I have to remember when it is out.

For my IIa using a manual choke, I just picked up one from the Help! aisle at my local Auto Zone. $8 and works just fine.

Yes...I have a late IIA cable that I'm sure I can make fit....just wanted to try and keep the light also...Thanks for the replies.

Are you talking about the old style choke with the huge mechanical switch on the engine side of the bulkhead ?

Yep...that's the one...want to try to keep the warning light if I can...though I'll get over it if it's just not plausable.

That's what I thought you had. I salvaged one by pulling the knob, shank and inner cable out of a new generic cable, and hand filling a notch in it where it lets the arm drop in. Took some careful measuring, but it worked, in the end, which all that counts.

Thanks...I'm gonna look into that option. Thanks again for the help!!
