hey whats going on.
so im riding out to rhode island this afternoon to get some beer,
and everythings great. after a while im thinking to my self
is it possable to swap the parking brake handle assembely over to the right hand position or do i have to get a right hand drive handle setup?
as the handle is embeding itself into my right calf.
looked at the parts in the catalog to see if there were rhd parts but i didnt see any.
just wondering if anybody new before i started taking things apart?
thanks
aaron

Yes you can move it if you have the correct parts.

Great question, I have the same problem with it digging into my leg. I always wanted to swap the parking brake handle in my 72, 88 with one out of a series 1 land rover, that way it would remain on the drivers side but down low and out of the way!

Which parts are the correct parts?
Thanks

I'll try to snap a pic of my RHD system or post the page in the SIII Parts manual showing the correct bits...

You could also switch to the II/IIA lever, which basically lays on the floor vs. your current upright lever position...

Beer run.

Don't you love living in CT?
We head to NY on this side of the state.

Both of you, stay home and brew your own.

Unfortunatly
Demand would wipe out supply.
And I'm not a patient man when it comes to beer.

OK, so us people who don't live in Conneticut, why are you driving out of state for beer? Is it the taxes, or the selection? Inquiring minds want to know!

No alcohol sold in CT on Sundays. Aaron goes to RI, Jim goes to NY, and I'm 10 miles from Sothwick MA. I feel sorry for Forrest, he's right smack in the middle of the shoreline.

That's just so wrong.............................uncivilized, IMO.

We can buy wine from a vineyard on Sunday as it's considered an agricultural product.

I'm gonna hi-jack the hi-jack :p Does anyone know if the ex-MoD trucks have the same parking brake set up/parts as the standard civvy trucks? Of course, this is relating to my IIa. Mine has the straight type of handle and on every other truck I've see they have the bent handle set-up.

Thanks,
J

Sounds like someone needs to plant a few barley/hops beer plants and open a brewery on the property.

I may be wrong, and happy to stand corrected, but I thought all early 2As had the straight handle, and it changed with the black-dash change, i.e. Negative ground, ca. 1967. You can always chop and weld, but the handles for RHD and LHD are different.

Jim, somehow, a glass of wine while wrenching seems so, uh, conflicted. TeriAnn may legitimately argue this.
