Hi All,

I've got to free up some space in the airplane hangar where I keep my Land Rover (and other assorted toys). Can you help figure out a fair price for my 1974 88" Series III RHD with overdrive?

Here is a link to several photos:

It has 93,000 miles, was imported from England about 10 years ago. Everything works as it should, including the four wheel drive and overdrive. Worst thing is that the frame has had some rusty spots patched on it over the years, but is servicable and should last for years to come. I don't know of anything that would need to be done, other than just have fun putting around the backroads and farm lanes.

I have loads of books, records, and spares. I am located in Virginia and can help with delivery in the mid-atlantic area (i.e. have a trailer).

I'd like to price it so it "leaves some meat on the bone" for the next owner- just a fair price both ways. I put together an ad at $3800, but maybe I'm off one way or the other.

Your thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Thanks, Jeff

Nice Truck, that seems like a fair price to me. Good luck!

$3800 is a fair price by the sounds of it especially if the bulkhead is not in need of major repair. I am not a fan of RHD vehicles in this country so I always make a mental deduction. Looks like someone could drive it for a while and then do a frame swap. Also depends on how good the paint job is and whether its hiding anything or not. But overall sounds like a fair price.

I dunno, with a Fairey, fairly straight tin work, presentable, you might be leaving a little on the table.

I'm glad to get your opinions and to hear that I'm not totally out of touch on a fair price. I'll work up an ad soon.

Best to all, Jeff

I agree with T here...

I think you could fetch 5-6k on ebay.

I've always had good transactions on ebay, buying and selling, but I'd really rather just deal direct with somebody who knows and loves these vintage Land Rovers. I'm not sure that makes sense, but that's what I'm thinking. I guess I'll try ebay if nobody is interested on the forum. (By the way, my avatar, of the surrey top TR4, was something I sold on ebay- went to Greece- that truly was an interesting experience that worked out well). Anyway, I hope I can find somebody on the forum, and that it is a good deal for both sides.

Thanks, Jeff

It depends on how fast you want to sell the truck... I think you're a touch low. I would set the price at $5500 and take no less than $4500... But that's just me. Also it depends on where you're located... Location will also dictate price.
