    steering box

Are there any differences in the steering boxes between the different models SII, SIIA, SIII? I know the columns are different but what about the boxes themselves. Looking for a box for a 69 IIA.
Also looking for a wiper motor cover panel for the 69.
    Thanks
    Bob

I don't think there's any difference in the aluminum casting (box) itself. The differences are the column and the shaft.

I don't know about the internals but the casting is different.
The SIII casting is somewhat larger and will foul a SII standard brake pedal tower.

There is also a difference in the mounting bolt size. My '80 SIII has 7/16" bolts (5/8" wrench on the bolts, 11/16" on the nuts), and the '68 SIIA has 3/8" (9/16" wrench on nuts and bolts).

Perhaps these are later, running changes? The box I have in my shed came off a SIII and has the smaller holes and looks identical as far as the casting. Or perhaps I have some sort of bastard child rover part!
