    intake manifold gasket

I'm about to install an intake gasket on my series III. I was wondering if the intake gasket needs to be smeared with grease or some type of joint compound. Thanks

No. I goes on dry. Don't over-torque the fasteners. I can't remember, but it's fairly low - check the repair manual.

When I pulled my manifold I soaked it in pb blaster for at least a week, which made it a lot easier to remove...highly recommend doing that.

          That's a 5 minute job with a razor blade.

By 'it', Did you mean you soaked the gasket, or the nuts holding the manifold to the head, and exhaust pipe? Soaking the nuts on the down pipe is a good idea, but if you meant the gasket, that peels right off with a razor blade.

Sorry, I meant to say soak the nuts for a week or so (i luckily didnt break any bolts). The gasket came off with the manifold; whatever didn't I covered the holes and scraped the remnants off with a razor.
