I'm wondering if anyone knows the sizes for the male/male adapter that screws into the block, then you screw the water temperature sensor into that? It's part # 568457. I was just wondering if anyone knew the thread sizes to see if I could source something locally.

The male to male adapter that fits a female fitting at the sensor bulb of a Smiths mechanical temp gauge on one end and and screws into a threaded engine hole at the other end.

I could use one of those as well. Anyone know a source for these male to male adapters??

You might try EGauges.com. I got all of my adapters from them.

I'm pretty sure of two things: It looks like this, but this isn't it. I think I have a few, and if it get's above 10 degrees, might be able to go upstairs in the barn for a look for the right ones. I'll need to find a butterfly gage to check it against too.
I have a 10' piece of hex brass and can set up the Gallicop to make a bunch, but it'll have to wait till sugaring is over.

One thing that's a PIA is that some threads are BSP which can easily be confused with NSP. I think its 27 tpi vs 26tpi.

I have the dual gauge kit installation instructions and part number list at home. I can post it tonight...

568457 is a male / female adapter used to install the electric water temp sending unit (560794) into the head. It is used with sealing washer 243959.

568457 should be readily available for $10. I bought one not too long ago (from Bill at tntlr.com): http://www.tntlr.com/content/adapter-wtemp-imp

The newer Smiths butterfly gauges have a male barrel that holds the bulb into a M/F adapter too. I know I have those, not sure about the M/M ones till I get out to the barn (mine, not the flat one)

Interesting.

I am looking to put the gauge sending unit adapter on one of these:

For reference, the correct part numbers are:
218512 Union for thermometer bulb, Petrol models
243959 Joint washer, union to cylinder head, Petrol models

I had some of these machined a few years back.
I have 2 of them left @ $20.00 each.

Let me know.

Well,it is and it isn't. It's for a BMC engine, or maybe it was a 120, but it's not the right size for a LR. Best get one from Les. I did find some today, but they are M/F, for the later style with the male threaded barrel.
TerriAnn, I have probably had 25 English sports cars, and not one Triumph ever. Not for not wanting to, just never happened. Nothing beyond TR4 ever did much for me.
