View Full Version : Need Some Inspiration!

OK, so I'm starting to wake up from the winter slumber, it's light out after work, mowed the lawn yesterday, and remembered that I still have a half-way disassembled IIa in the garage!

I need some photos, blogs, timelines, etc... on what others have accomplished when doing work on their own trucks.

I'm doing major preservation work, not a full restoration: New brake lines, cylinder, booster; rust fixes in the bulkhead, foot wells; possible new engine, some wiring, etc....

Any links for me to browse to get ideas and inspiration?

I'm doing a frame-over restoration on my 1969 RHD IIa 88. I travel quite a bit, so I don't get as much time to work on it as I'd like, so my timeline wouldn't be an inspiration.

jac04's lightweight rebuild thread has been an inspiration to me:

http://www.roversnorth.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5073

It's also inspired me to take my time and not cut corners.

One of the best pieces of advice I received was to get the engine rebuilt and in the frame as soon as possible. Then, anytime you're feeling burnt out or overwhelmed, start the engine. It seems to give you a lift and re-energize you to continue the project.

Best of luck, it's a ridiculously expensive, but equally fulfilling hobby.

So true, the sound of the engine is a welcome kick in the ass! And a promose of better days ahead!

jac04 -- that thread was awesome to browse through. Very, very nice work -- way beyond what I want/am able to do. I suppose I could do it if I took the time, but the money is not an option, can't make it happen.

However, per my plan, I will have my rig back on the road and running well after I'm done.

Thanks for the pics!

What about doing a day by day countdown to when it will once again be very cold and uncomfortable to work on the Rover?

How about a fresh coat of DBgreen? It always works for me.

Above picture is great. It would be funny to have that one with you sitting on a milk crate behind the steering wheel with a dog on the ground looking at you confused!!

Look like a potential for a Beachcomber Lightweight Conversion !!

Looking forward to seeing the progress/project photos.

Nice job Aaron! I really dig before and after pics. Do people say "dig " anymore or do you have to come from the "Greg Brady" era. "Groovey Man"
